The primary method to advertise on Net4U.com is to have a RETAIL ACCOUNT created by Net4U.com.

The secondary method (no effort on your part just money out of your pocket) ideal for advertising your bed & breakfast, resort or real estate business on Net4U.com is to sign up with Google Adsense by clicking the link at the bottom of the Google ads that says "Ads by Google." Net4U.com blocks all advertisers that are:

not fishing related in some way or another
scams
competitors of Net4U.com

How do I use Net4U.com to market my goods/services?
BY MARKING FISHING RELATED SPOTS ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES! Every fishing related spot that you mark will display your advertising tag line. See the bottom of this page for examples.

Fishing guides can mark as many Guide Meeting markers (where you meet your customers at any given lake) as you need which will display your primary advertising information. In addition, every spot that you mark (picnic area, bathroom, marina, boat ramp, bank fishing spot, etc.) your tag line will display with your advertising information. This applies nation wide! For example, you may only guide in Texas, but you can research a lake in California and mark a boat ramp location; thereby providing information about that lake in California while advertising your services back in Texas.

NOTE: Fishing Guides are NOT expected to mark their bread and butter fishing spots. Everyone knows you make your living by knowing where to fish. However, you can if you want to, but there are plenty of other types of spots to mark without crippling or destroying your livelyhood.

Retail stores (marina or bait shop) Net4U.com will mark your physical location (one location) with the appropriate marker. That marker will display your advertising information such as hours of operation and goods/services. And, like a fishing guide, any spots that you mark will display your tag line as well. You can also research any fishing spot in the United States and mark that as well.

Fishing related websites won’t have special identifying markers. Web sites owners can mark spots nation wide, but will only have tag lines on spots marked. A fishing related website would be someone that sells bait, hand-made jigs, hand-made lures, tackle, custom rods & reels, boats and boat accessories etc.

What are the requirements for getting a Retail Account?
The requirements are very simple and IT IS FREE.

You MUST have a functioning and accessible website that visitors can easily access from a web browser.
Place Net4U.com's logo AND/OR a link back to Net4U.com's map of the lake you're located at or guiding at on your website that can be seen either on your home page or navigated to on a LINKS/FAVORITE LINKS page. The link going to Net4U.com must work.

I don't have a business web site, how do I get one?
Net4U.com will build a standard "business card" (15 pages or less) type web site and host it on our servers for a FLAT $60/year fee. If you don't have a registered domain name, then Net4U.com will register/re-register a domain name for an additional $10/year. Net4U.com will do minimal updates (change hours of operation, upload a few pictures, change some text) for you without charge, or Net4U.com will provide you access to make your own updates and changes using a FrontPage Server Extensions compatible web tool. That's only $5 a month hosting fee! If you already have a business card web site and want to have Net4U.com host it, the flat fee is still $60/year. YES. Otherwise, you can advertise by going to Google and subscribe to Google's AdSense. Your ad will then rotate on Net4U.com on the various pages with the other advertisers.

How do I get my account created?
Send us an email from our contact page (ensure you provide a link to your website) and we’ll send you information for signing up. DO NOT SIGN UP AS A MEMBER THINKING THAT WILL WORK. IT WON'T. Net4U.com must create your account for it to function properly.

How much space is available in the primary markers to advertise my business?
Including your tag line, there are approximately 36 lines in the blowup that displays your guide meeting spot or retail store. More than that and it scrolls off the bottom of the blowup and is next to impossible to read. See the guide marker at Keystone Lake in Oklahoma. That marker is maxed out on the number of lines it can use.

Can I have web site and email links pointing back to my web site in my primary advertising marker and tag line?
Most definitely YES. That's what this is all about-getting exposure for your business.

Can I have graphic images uploaded to my primary advertising marker and tag line?
At this time only very small images (75x75) may be used in either. Why? Net4U.com is graphics heavy with Google Map images and if you marked 10 spots at one lake that’s a large overhead for displaying that lake. If you absolutely need to use a graphic image, contact us for more information.

Can I advertise on the Lake marker?
Yes. If you've volunteered to provide fishing reports for that lake, or if you can provide information about a lake (like: depth, cover, type of fish, fishing rule exceptions etc.), Net4U.com will give you credit for that information and provide a link to your web site (if so desired) on the Lake marker. Send us the Lake information via email and we’ll get it posted for you.

How long will my account be on Net4U.com?
As long as Net4U.com is a viable web site (Net4U.com has been active since 1997), or until you ask us to remove it or until you remove Net4U.com's image and link from your website or your website goes inactive. Otherwise, your account will never expire while Net4U.com is up and running. However, if you violate the rules on posting on Net4U.com, then your account can be deactivated. Please see the Retail Rules for more detailed information. Again, Net4U.com is about helping people find a place to fish and providing any relevant information about that fishing place. That’s our passion and our mission and we want and need your help for years to come.

How do I mark a spot?

Find the lake that you want to mark a spot by doing a zip code search.
Click the Mark a Spot graphic image. If you’re not logged in, you’ll be prompted to log in.
On the page that displays zoom in as far as the Google Map will go to the spot that you want to mark.
Click the spot. A temporary icon appears. Note: If you click more than once, the LAST spot clicked will be what’s saved.
Select the type of marker for that spot.
Type the information about that spot in the text box.
Click the submit button.
The page will refresh displaying your marker.
Repeat steps 3 thru 7 to mark additional spots at that location
After Net4U reviews the marked spot(s) and approves it/them it/they will display on the Google Map for all to see.

TIP: First log into Net4U.com, then do a search for lakes. You should see a blue and white marker to the left of each location. Click that marker and it will add that location to your My Spots section. Add all of the locations that you plan on marking spots at. Then click on the My Spots link at the top of the page. From there you have a link for marking spots for each location in My Spots. That's much quicker than viewing the lake and clicking Mark A Spot there.

Note: You can literally mark any spot on planet earth. Don’t get confused marking spots at more than one lake thinking that those markers will display properly. For example, you have Benbrook lake displayed and you mark a spot there. Instead of opening a new window for Granbury lake you move the map to Granbury lake and start marking spots assuming they’ll show when a user looks at Granbury lake. Not true. Markers are directly associated to the location (lake) you have opened. Those markers at the second location will NEVER display when someone is viewing the first location because we will not approve them, nor will they display for the second location because they are not associated to the second location.
